Question from Computing.net

"Increasing Disk Space"

I've inherited a Dell Server with low C: drive partition. The D: partition has over 300GB. I'd like to resize the C: partition from 15GB to at the very least 50GB. How can I do this? Is there a product that'll let me partition the drive without destroying the data on both partition?

Are the replies available?

You can find the question above here. Unfortunately, none of the replies are available. Partition Magic wouldn't run on Server but only be compatible with Windows NT, 98, ME, 2000, and XP desktop editions. In fact, the simplest and safest way would probably be to use third-party Server partition manager – AOMEI Partition Assistant Server Edition which can help you increase the hard disk space and enlarge system partition C drive into contiguous unallocated space.

How to increase disk space for Server step by step with AOMEI Partition Assistant

Tips: To increase a partition size, there must be some unallocated space behind this partition. If not, you can create the contiguous unallocated space by shrinking other partitions.

Take Windows Server 2003 for example, the steps are all one whatever the Windows Operating System you use. The following are step by step instructions to increase the disk space and extend C drive into contiguous unallocated space which is created by shrinking D partition.

Step1: Launch AOMEI Partition Assistant Server Edition. The C drive is nearly out of space and D partition has enough available free space.

Partition Assistant

Step2: Right-click D partition and select "Resize" option.

Resize Partition D

Step3: In the pop-up window, position your mouse pointer on the left slider and drag the slider rightwards as the following screenshot: (You can also input precise volume into blank)

Shrink Partition D

Step4: After step3, there will be 35GB unallocated space behind system partition C drive. Select C drive and drag the right slider rightwards to increase system partition size.

Extend C Drive

Step5: You will find the system partition C drive has been enlarged to 50GB. The "Pending Operations" displays all the operations you performed. Just click "Apply" to make the changes take effect.

Click Apply
